I am Paride Carrara, a postdoctoral researcher currently working on the “Welcoming immigrants in Central and Eastern Europe: lessons from Russia’s invasion of Ukraine” (WICE) ERC Project at the University of Latvia. In addition to my research, I am also Adjunct Professor at the University of Milan for the course of Polimetrics.

I hold a PhD in Political and Social Sciences from the University of Bologna, which I completed in 2025. My doctoral research focused on “The Determinants and Consequences of Ideological Ambiguity: Strategies, Electoral Impact, and Coalition Formation.” In my thesis, I explored why political actors use ideological ambiguity strategically, examining its effects on voter behaviour, party competition, and coalition dynamics.

My academic journey has been shaped by a strong interest in party politics and voter behaviour. I specialized in computational social sciences, with a particular focus on natural language processing (NLP) to analyze political texts.
